Margaret Gallego, a teacher at Robison Elementary, was surprised Wednesday with a Latino teacher award.
Gallego has been teaching for 47 years, 42 of them at Robison Elementary on Tucson's west side.
Chicanos Por La Causa’s Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards program recognizes teachers whose passion inspires future generations. She was presented with a $5,000 cash award and a $2,500 stipend for Robison.
