University of Arizona

International students at the University of Arizona dropped from 4,956 in 2015-16 to 4,881 last year.

The search for a new University of Arizona president is down to a “short list” of potential contenders, but officials aren’t saying who is in the running.

The list was developed by an Arizona Board of Regents advisory committee, which recently met with a succession of presidential hopefuls at a resort about 10 miles south of the Phoenix airport.

“The search committee has largely done its job — a short list of prospects was identified and communicated to the Regents, who will now take the further steps needed to identify the next President of the UA,” said search committee member Lynn Nadel.

Nadel, chair of the faculty, announced the short list in an email update to faculty on Monday, Feb. 27.

Regents are expected to meet in Phoenix to discuss the short list on Tuesday, Feb. 28.
