An abundance of sunshine, good life expectancy and more bang for your buck make Arizona one of the top 10 places in the country for a happy and healthy retirement, according to one website.
MoneyRates.com looked at 11 different criteria grouped into five categories in order to figure out 2017's best and worst states in which to retire. The categories include health and longevity, personal safety, climate, economic factors and proportion of older residents.
With more sunshine and clear days than any other state in the nation, Arizona came in at number nine on the list, tying with Connecticut.
That atmosphere must be kind to older constitutions because life expectancy at age 65 is among the five highest states," the article says, right before warning readers that "there is a bit of an issue with crime."
Despite the fact that Arizona's property crime rate is in the nation's top 10 and there's more violent crime than in most states, MoneyRates determined that the good outweighed the bad when it comes to Arizona.
