Pima Animal Care Center is partnering with South Tucson to offer a free clinic Saturday, July 15, to vaccinate and microchip dogs.
The event will be held at the South Tucson Fire Department, 1601 S. Sixth Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pet owners can bring their dogs to receive rabies, parvo and distemper vaccines, according to an animal care center news release.
"Vaccinating your pets is of utmost importance and something that should not be overlooked or postponed," said Dr. Jennifer Wilcox, director of veterinary services.
Wilcox said every year workers at the center see dogs that become ill because the animals did not receive their vaccinations. "By providing this free service to pet owners, we hope to save the lives of many pets," Wilcox said.
The vaccinations will be administered to dogs on a first come, first serve basis, officials said. In addition to vaccines, the center will have a limited supply of microchips for dogs.
Pet owners are encouraged to arrive early because of a limited supply of vaccines and microchips.
The vaccines were funded by donations to the Friends of Pima Animal Care Center. For more information on the clinic, visit the care center's website at pima.gov/animalcare.
