A box of nine abandoned puppies was discovered outside the Park Mall Wednesday morning.

The Humane Society is asking the public to help out a litter of puppies that was abandoned outside the Park Place Wednesday morning.

At around 7 a.m., mall security found a plastic bin with nine puppies outside the Humane Society's Pawsh Boutique store in the mall, said Vanessa Ford, a Humane Society of Southern Arizona spokeswoman.

Chief Operations Officer Brandy Burke retrieved the puppies, who all appeared sickly and have since tested positive for parvo.

One of the puppies already died, and the prognosis for the remaining eight is unclear, Ford said.

The group is attempting to raise funds to help the puppies have the best chance at life, and need $8,000 to continue treatment.

"I can't overemphasize the importance of spay/neuter surgeries, and proper vaccinations for our pets," Ford said. "There are many low-cost options, and we encourage anyone whose pet is in need of care to visit our website or call us for more information."
