lights and sirens

A man was shot and wounded by a Tucson police officer answering a call about a fight on the city’s west side Wednesday night.

The man was shot when police went to a house in the 1300 block of North Falcon Ridge Drive about 8 p.m., said Sgt. Kimberly Bay, a police spokeswoman.

No officers were wounded, she said. The house is in a neighborhood near  West Speedway and North Greasewood Road.

The man was taken to a hospital but his condition was not known Thursday morning. On Wednesday night, however, the man's condition had been described by police as critical.

Police have not released details about the call nor the circumstances that led to the shooting.
