Law and order

A 47-year-old man was arrested and another man shot during an overnight brawl at Doc Holliday's Saloon in Tombstone, officials said.

James Edward Roberson visited the bar with a woman Friday evening, and as the pair entered, they were asked to leave their handguns with the bartender, Carol Capas, a Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said in a news release.

The couple complied and later, got into a short argument with two men inside of the bar, Capas said.

Shortly before 1 a.m., the couple retrieved their guns from the bartender, after which Roberson and one of the men began to fight. Roberson fired his gun, shooting the man in the lower leg, Capas said.

The man was airlifted to a Tucson hospital and Roberson was booked into the Cochise County Jail in connection with charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct with a weapon, misconduct with a weapon and endangerment, Capas said.

He's being held in jail on a $25,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing.
