Hundreds of people attended opening ceremonies for The Wall That Heals at Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park in Oro Valley, Ariz., on March 15, 2018. The Wall with onsite mobile education center, a program of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, is a 3/4 size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington DC. It will be open 24 hours a day through 3pm Sunday. An expanded ceremony at 9am Sunday will feature an F-16 flyover and several town officials and local politicians.

Darwin Frey of Wisconsin touches the name of one of 20 shipmates killed while serving in the Vietnam War after opening ceremonies for The Wall That Heals at Canada Del Oro Riverfront Park in Oro Valley, Ariz., on March 15, 2018. Frey lost 20 shipmates after an in-bore explosion in an 8-inch gun turret on the USS Newport News, a heavy cruiser, on Oct. 1, 1972. The ship was providing gunfire support to ground troops fighting around Quang Tri City. The USS Newport News was the last all-gun heavy cruiser in commission in US naval history.
