This is my Dad, Joseph L. Clark from an AZ pioneer family. He was a student at Tucson High and in the JRROTC when America entered WWII. He graduated a semester early in January 1943, so that he could enlist with his brother. My dad was trained at Ft. Benning in the 517th, which is now known as the 82nd Airborne. His unit was moved to Ft. Meade near Baltimore where he met our mom. He then was sent into the European theatre where he was stationed in England and France. This photo was taken in Lille, France just before he was to go into Belgium when Hitler killed himself. His unit didn't wear patches in case they were taken prisoner. My Dad is still with us, thankfully. He and our Mom just celebrated their 70th Anniversary. We were able to take him back to DC in 2007 to see the WWII memorial and his unit's reunion. What an honor to be in the presence of those heroes.

This is my grandpa, Waldo Werft. I am honoring him this veterans day because he is one of the strongest people I know. With all that he has been through, he continues to surprise me everyday when he is on facebook making statuses about going to the gym and making motivational comments on peoples statuses. He has the kindest heart and can lift my spirit up on a bad day because his words are so philosophical and heartwarming. He served in WWII, the battle of the bulge including a few other duties. He is a great person and deserves to be honored on Veterans day for his hard work and dedication. We all love you Grandpa and thank you for your service:)
