Wednesday's record rainfall at Tucson International Airport (1.15 inches) brought the official June total to 1.58 inches, making this the second wettest June on record.

The record โ€” 2.07 inches โ€” was set in 1938, according to the National Weather Service.

June is normally pretty dry, averaging 0.2 inches โ€” so it's about eight times wetter than normal this year.

Doesn't mean it will continue. In 2000, Tucson recorded 1.56 inches of rain and the overall monsoon total for June 15 through September 30 was a disappointing 4.87 inches, well below the normal 6.06 inches for the season.

It's pretty wet out there today. The National Weather Service in Tucson tweeted this morning that the amount of "precipitable water" in the atmosphere set a record for the day at 1.84 inches.

Today's forecast calls for scattered showers and thunderstorms this morning with "numerous" showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
