Nursing students Paloma Ojeda and Rebecca Moore listen to facilitator Dr. Wanda Larsen in a simulation lab at the University of Arizona College of Nursing in Tucson, AZ, on April 10, 2018.

With National Nurses Week set to kick off Monday, Arizona has just been ranked the 7th best state in the country for nurses.

Personal finance website Wallethub released the study just in time for graduation, with thousands of nurses set to begin looking for jobs in the next few weeks.

Wallethub analyzed all 50 states and Washington D.C. across 21 key metrics, ranging from monthly average starting salary, health-care facilities to capita and nursing job openings per capita.

Arizona ranked well in several key areas:

  • 5th – Monthly average starting salary for nurses
  • 7th – Nurses per capita
  • 14th – Projected share of elderly population by 2030
  • 1st – Average annual salary for nurses
  • 9th – Share of best nursing homes
  • 13th – Projected competition by 2024
