A streetcar picks up riders at the Main Gate stop. The Thursday-Saturday schedules will change starting today.

Sun Link is extending the hours of the streetcar for those planning late-night celebrations of New Year’s Eve.

The streetcar will be available until 2 a.m. Jan. 1 to help carry riders celebrating New Year’s eve at businesses along the route, Sun Link announced in a news release.

The streetcar runs through Main Gate Square, Fourth Avenue, downtown Tucson and Mercado San Agustin.

Monday’s schedule runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. with service every 20 minutes, which is the normal schedule for a Sunday. Regular streetcar hours resume Tuesday.

A one-day pass costs $4 and can be purchased at any streetcar stop, online, at sales outlets or through the GoTucson Transit app. Each ride costs $1.50 and cash is not accepted on the streetcar.
