Tucsonans love a free band concert

Crickets chirp. The smell of cut grass is in the air. Neighbors gather at Reid Park and the band begins to play β€œThe Star-Spangled Banner,” and boy is it popular. Parking and seating places go fast when the Tucson Pops Orchestra performs at the bandshell each Sunday in the spring and fall. The lawn comfortably holds 7,000 and the concerts, going on since the Cold War, are free.
