A Pima County jury has convicted a man on 11 felony charges in connection with a 2016 murder, rape and kidnapping case involving his ex-girlfriend, officials said.
Steven Leska is scheduled to be sentenced on May 14, said Pima County Superior Court spokeswoman, Krisanne LoGalbo.
Leska's trial began last week and concluded Tuesday, with the jury deliberating for less than a day before reaching a verdict.
On Feb. 19, 2016, Leska broke in to his ex-girlfriend's northwest side home, slashing the throat of her companion before sexually assaulting the woman and holding her against her will, according to Arizona Daily Star archives.
James Kozar III was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Leska was charged with burglary, first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, sexual abuse, sexual assault, kidnapping and several counts of aggravated assault.
