TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson man has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for attempted bank robbery.

Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Richard Ortega Elenes Jr. was sentenced Monday to a 64-month prison term.

Elenes had previously pleaded guilty to attempted bank robbery.

Authorities say Elenes entered a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Tucson in June 2015. He went to a bank teller and handed a note that said: "I need all of your money now."

The teller pressed an alarm button and announced she was being robbed.

Elenes then walked out of the bank and got into a waiting taxi.

Authorities say Elenes was captured by Tucson police within 30 minutes.
