Two A-10 Thunderbolt II jets from Tucson's Davis-Monthan Air Force Base were among several aircraft flown in Air Force trainings Thursday that landed and took off from a highway.

The A-10 seen in the video became the first of its kind in the United States to purposefully land on a public roadway on Aug. 5 near Alpena, Michigan.

The jet was one of four from the DMAFB 354th Fighter Squadron and the Michigan Air National Guard’s 127th Wing that took part in the training exercises, named Northern Strike 21, aimed at giving pilots experience in landing and taking off from unusual locations.
