An umbrella toting pedestrian strolls past the Dairy Queen on 6th Street near 4th Avenue during an afternoon shower on the third straight day of rain over Tucson, Ariz., January 23, 2024. Rain is forecast to keep falling into Wednesday.

Tucson's work week is expected to end with breezy afternoons and a slight chance of rain from a storm that could linger in the area through the weekend, the weather forecast shows.

The best chance for rain in the metro area is late Thursday and on Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Tucson.

Thursday's high in Tucson should be about 70 degrees, but highs here will dip into the mid to upper 60s through Sunday.

It'll be breezy to windy each afternoon through Friday, but primarily east and south of Tucson. Blowing dust also could be an issue in Cochise and southern Graham and Greenlee counties, the weather service said Wednesday.

Rain here could begin Thursday night, with more showers and possible isolated thunderstorms on Friday from Santa Cruz County north to southeast Pinal, the weather service said.

The storm could bring 1 to 4 inches of snow to Mount Lemmon, above 6,500 feet.
