Right on the heels of its win for Tucson's favorite bookstore, one local spot is now getting some attention from a larger audience.
Antigone Books recently won the Arizona Daily Star Reader's Choice Award for best bookstore, and who can argue with that? A Tucson staple for decades, Antigone has managed to thrive in a time when other brick and mortar bookstores have perished.
But Antigone is also getting some recognition from outside Tucson, after landing on The Matador Network's recent list of the 28 coolest independent bookstores in the U.S.
Because, who doesn't love a good bookstore?
Coming in at number 12 on the list, Antigone is "a well-stocked and welcoming store for women and men alike," according to the article.
Aside from hosting book groups, readings and writing workshops, Antigone's long-time "commitment to the best in womenβs, gender-based, and socially conscious literature has made them a star in the Tucson community," the article says.
