Under the Republican budget plan President Donald Trump signed into law this summer, workers are exempted from paying federal taxes on up to $25,000 in wages earned from tips and up to 250 hours of overtime pay. The provision remains in effect through tax year 2028, Trump’s final year in office.

Until Sept. 1, the Trump administration had not specified the exact occupations that would see a federal tax break under the "no tax on tips" provision. 

Here’s a look at the 68 jobs covered by “no tax on tips,” which the Treasury Department breaks down into eight distinct categories:

  • Wait staff
  • Food servers (non-restaurant)
  • Dining room/cafeteria attendants, bartender helpers
  • Chefs and cooks
  • Food preparation workers
  • Fast food and counter workers
  • Dishwashers
  • Host staff (restaurant, lounge, and coffee shops)
  • Bakers

Entertainment & events

  • Gambling dealers
  • Gambling change persons and booth cashiers
  • Gambling cage workers
  • Gambling/sports book writers, runners
  • Dancers
  • Musicians and Singers
  • Disc jockeys (except radio)
  • Entertainers and performers
  • Digital content creators
  • Ushers, lobby attendants and ticket takers
  • Locker room, coatroom and dressing room attendants
