Re: the April 17 letter "D-M noise complaints come from tiny minority"
As a long-time advocate for those under the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base flight pattern, I was shocked by the letter from Bob Logan, who is president of the DM50. Among the facts ignored β for example, the survey he cites about support for DM included a much wider area than the area that is affected -- the writer overlooked the fact that the flight pattern includes the University of Arizona with its large population of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Miniscule? I think not. A more diplomatic approach would have certainly been more helpful.
I attend classes just north of Speedway and west of Campbell. When the noisy aircraft - not all are and yes, the base is an important economic factor here - fly over, we cannot hear what our professor is saying and the class comes to a halt. Multiply that by 58,000 times.
Surely the quality of life of those affected by overflights can be taken into account when considering which aircraft are based here or use our airspace. Mr. Logan owes us all an apology.
