Re: Tucson-area seized vehicles are returned — for a price. Local authorities return seized vehicles in exchange for payments between $1,500 and $3,400.

Charles Starbuck: Why not just be honest and change the headline to “Local authorities engage in extortion?”

Edwin De Jesus: The entire criminal justice system is about revenue, not the laws or justice. It’s corrupt and everyone from the police, to the jails and judges are all guilty.

William Thomas Frensley: This surely looks like an extortion racket run by law enforcement and the judicial system.

Jesse King: Remember these things when you vote in state and local elections.

Dennis Walsh: The story should point out that the innocent car owner will have a claim against the loanee for the fees. Of course, getting paid on the judgement may be a different matter, but they do have the option to sue.

Ethan Tijerino: Anyone notice that the only other vehicle older than five years was a BMW? Does the county specifically target newer, more expensive vehicles for seizure, is there a pattern? I want to know.

Bobby Pugh: Charge these government thieves under the RICO act.
