Re: the July 9 column "America has been down this terrifying road before."

David Fitzsimmons, I read your insightful thoughts every Saturday morning in the Star. The July 9 column was especially poignant as we just returned from Poland and seeing the death camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau and reading the events of this past week in America. After reading your article, I wept for our country, my children, grandchildren and now a great-grandchild.

What a wonderful way you portrayed America depicting two men, a Japanese survivor of our internment camps during World War ll and a Muslim cafe owner. They are discussing the state of affairs in America and Mr. Tanaka pats his friend's old and wrinkled hand; "God be with you Ibrahim," "And may Allah bless and keep you Mr. Tanaka." Hopefully, many readers will look at themselves in the mirror and see the hatred and anger toward others of different beliefs that resides in their hearts. Keep up the great writings and your editorial cartoons.
