Re: the May 22 article "Prop. 123 voting in Pima reflected economic divide."

The comments made by H. T. Sanchez, the TUSD superintendent, concerning the large percentage of votes agains Prop. 123 showed a sad lack of understanding of this community.

I want to see all of our public schools funded at least double the level allowed by the regime in Phoenix, and public school teachers paid what professionals entrusted with our most precious assets should be paid (at least commensurate with the pay of professional administrators).

I voted against Prop 123 because the schools will get less than what the law requires. I voted against Prop. 123 because it is a scam, it lets a lawless band of legislators off the hook, allowing them to give away more of our tax dollars to their business buddies.

I voted against Prop. 123 because I’m not ready to back down. If we don’t stand up for the future of our public schools and for the Arizona we want, we will all be in the same sinking boat.
