Re: the April 15 article "Commercial horseback rides damaging OV trail, hikers say"

I am a frequent hiker on the Linda Vista Trail and am commenting on a recent letter and article in the Star about horse use on this trail. My early life was spent on a ranch, using and riding horses, but I am now a hiker and have not been on a horse in over 30 years.

Horse use occurs on approximately one half of the Linda Vista Trail and I believe it is very compatible with the environment. There are limited trails horses can use in the immediate area, whereas there are a number of trails us hikers can enjoy. I understand that everyone cannot hike, but many can ride horse back and enjoy this unique area.

People need to be understanding and polite to other users. I believe horse use should be aloud to continue on this trail.
