RE: the April 15 article "When life gives you thorns, find solace in your desert garden"

On Saturday ago, I awoke, grabbed the Star and began my ritual. After a poor sleep, I expected no help from the Star, but, I was wrong. I saw a POSITIVE view of life on those pages. Here was a reasoned letter from a reader (not common), a warm piece about Rod Carew's organ transplant, and (gasp) a truly wonderful mini-essay from one of your truly sad components, David Fitzsimmons.

I do read Fitz, mostly in order to know mine enemy, but, this day, I became a Fitz ally. There IS something behind the smirk and junior high cartoons after all. His last comment: "I am blessed to be in this world."

I am almost afraid to read his next epistle lest I put him back into the cellar, from whence he came. Truly his words about solace in the garden resonated. Thanks, Fitz.
