A temporary bridge is installed at Interstate 10 over Craycroft Road, March 8-10, 2017, so crews can demolish and replace the original 60-year-old bridge decks. The temporary bridge will remain in place during the replacement of the overpass bridge decks. The $3.3 million project is scheduled for completion in July 2017.

DPS trooper Danny Morales watches as Arizona Department of Transportation installs a temporary bridge for east-west traffic between the bridge decks at Craycroft Road and Interstate 10. Once in place, in about a week, work is expected to begin to replace both bridge decks at Craycroft, said Resident Engineer Abraham Abdulnour with ADOT. The 200-ton, 200-foot long temporary bridge is meant to keep traffic moving without interruption while the bridges are replaced, he said. Initially, eastbound traffic will be using the bridge, he added. Work on the bridges, which are about 60 years old, are scheduled to be completed by mid-October to early November 2017, Abdulnour said.
