PHOENIX — A Phoenix Police Department investigation into the theft of $300 prescription sunglasses included conducting multiple interviews, checking surveillance video and even checking DNA evidence.
But the fact that the victim was a City Council member wasn't a consideration, a police spokesman says.
Councilman Jim Waring got good service but not special consideration after reporting the theft, Sgt. Jonathan Howard told the Arizona Republic.
And checking DNA on a hat left behind by the thief isn't delaying work on evidence from more serious crimes, Howard said.
An officer, a sergeant and a police lieutenant responded to the branch library where Waring's sunglasses were stolen Aug. 3 while he was in the men's room.
No arrest has occurred but Howard says the DNA evidence might provide a lead.
