The four people killed in an Arizona helicopter crash Friday were a groom and his three nieces whom he had taken out for a ride on the private helicopter just hours before he was set to be married, The Daily Mail reports.

Pilot David McCarty, 59, died along with Rachel McCarty, 22, Faith McCarty, 21, and Katelyn Heideman, 21, family members said, when the helicopter went down about 11 a.m. in Telegraph Canyon, south of Superior and about 65 miles east of Phoenix.

They had gone for the ride ahead of McCarty's planned wedding ceremony with fiancée Joelleen Linstrom, family members told The Daily Mail.

“Preliminary evidence indicates a recreational slackline more than one kilometer long had been strung across the mountain range,” the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has said.

An eyewitness who called 911 reported seeing the helicopter strike a portion of the line before falling to the bottom of the canyon, the Sheriff's Office said, according to reporting by The Arizona Republic.
