As the war in Ukraine nears its first anniversary, Russia is keeping up an intense level of combat in the eastern Donbass region. The key flashpoint remains the city of Bakhmut - where the Russians are slowly gaining ground as they try to push westward towards the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. Amid heavy casualties on both sides, Ukrainian forces have set up makeshift field hospitals for the wounded before they are moved away from the frontline for further treatment.
