The Wildcats enter the weekend free of schoolwork, with the fall semester having finished, though that was never much of a problem for Markkanen.
Markkanen said his first full semester was a lot of work but “I don’t think it’s been too hard,” having already been through a Finnish school system that is considered among the world’s best.
In Finland’s system, kids don’t start school until age seven and have minimal homework, but it’s a system Markkanen finds efficient.
“When we go to school, we learn everything there,” Markkanen said. “We actually use that time when we are in school. And then (we’re) free.”
