- Updated
This video extracted from the front dash camera of Marana police officer Cesar Nelson’s patrol car shows the back of suspect Daniel Caldwell’s vehicle on Feb. 16, 2015.
Police officers can be heard communicating with each other and the downed suspect. Caldwell was wanted in a domestic violence incident from earlier that day.
Nelson was parked outside of a Cracker Barrel restaurant near a hotel where Caldwell was allegedly staying.
Marana police spokesman Sgt. Chris Warren said Caldwell walked up behind Nelson’s patrol car with a handgun in his right hand. Nelson got out of his car and shot Caldwell, who died later that day in the hospital.
