Yes, Jeffrey, I hate the drug ads on TV. As to them driving up drug consumption or negatively impacting public health, I have a different view. I believe we all have a responsibility to be informed about medical/medication choices, though indeed these ads may influence the chronically undereducated, even though the side effects of the drugs are clearly stated in the ads. But is it not the role of doctors/healthcare providers to act in our best interests (not totally naive, I hope), even if people demand some particular advertised drug? Isn't the real problem the collusion between pharma and insurers, which exists irrespective of ads? The U.S. healthcare system needs revision, but touting RFK Jr.'s "resolve" to remove drug ads is essentially the minutiae that Mr. McConnell focuses on trying to distract from the tsunami of lawlessness and incompetence that defines the Trump administration in general.
