The August 2025 issue of National Geographic (vol 248, #2) includes an article “A new way to save your digital data”. Use DNA. It offers storage of more data, much longer storage time, less than half the water use, less than a third or the energy use.
Instead of protesting what is being done we need to demand that alternatives be explored and that the economy that favors only top profits for the wealthy be upgraded to an economy that still profits but that also serves the future of our nation.
We have the technology to solve our problems; now we need to have the economy that supports such solutions.
