    Saguaro National Park expansion

    Updated Feb 20, 2021
    Saguaro National Park expansion

The National Park Service and the Trust for Public Land acquired 83 acres in the foothills of the Tucson Mountains that will connect Saguaro National Park to Pima County’s Sweetwater Preserve. The mostly undisturbed patch of desert includes a key wildlife corridor. More of this needs to happen to protect out public lands

    Letter: Intimidation

    Updated Feb 26, 2021

The sycophants of the former occupant of the White House, insisting that it won, are whistling past the grave yard. In no fair contest is 57- 43 a win. Those who are addicted to this person might remember, addiction generally ends in a bad outcome.

There is still a majority of sane, caring, compassionate, and yes, patriotic people in this country who are unwilling to watch this democracy fail. They vote, they are not afraid, they are more then willing to speak out and they have resources to help reasonable candidates become representatives to the Congress. We are not surrendering this country to hate. Ever.

Letter: Parody about the former Prez

    Feb 21, 2021

Uung to the tune of Rick James' "Super Freak."

He was a very sleazy prez,

The kind that doesn't like a brother.

He did not let his disciples down,

    With his January tweet.

He likes the Proud Boys and the Klan.

He says that they’re his all time favorite.

When they searched in every room

For his own Veep, he had us on our knees.

He said it would be wild, wow.

He was fond of Q Anon.

It was the wettest of wet dreams

For all of the white supremes.

    That prep was pretty sleazy.

    That prez’s a super creep.

I’d really like to bash him,

If we meet up on the street.

He's Alt Right, he's Alt Right

That prez’s Alt Right you see, yeah.

    With his bronzer and combover.

He was very mean to all his beauty queens.

    Such a sleazy scene.

    He spewed more fake news

Than all of Putin’s cyber crews.

Told us to insert sunlight, bleach, a Goya bean,

    And hydroxychloroquine.

    While quarantining in a limousine.

    Letter: president day

    Updated Feb 26, 2021

Most people do not celebrate Presidents day. sad but true. Our congress makes up for it by taking an entire week off. It seems to me that with all the trouble in the country they should have decided to stay in session and start working on solving the problems like incentive payments, infrastructure etc. Why did they have to take a vacation. Most Americans are stuck in their houses.

    Letter: Power should go underground

    Feb 21, 2021

Being a resident of Kolb and Snyder on the East side for 28 years, I would like to suggest to the power company they put their lines UNDERGROUND. After seeing the destruction of power lines in Southwest. Midwest and East, I was struck with the idea that underground lines would be very advantageous to all. I am sure there are plastics or some other materials that could safely encase the wires so that they are safe from water(rain which is very sparse in Pima County). Less than 5 inches in 2020. Think about the trees and other metals that would be saved. Think about the unobstructed views you would see. I am sure there are engineers or others that could come up with a system to manage an outage if it should occur to find the problem. Just an excellent suggestion to be considered. Modestly speaking.

    Letter: Protect Public Lands

    Feb 21, 2021

When I was sent to a therapeutic boarding school at 16, I felt trapped and disconnected from the world. The school was positioned behind the small town of Mayer, Arizona. My peers and I were confined to a school building, cafeteria, and dormitory surrounded by overwatered grass, introduced fruit trees, and stone-lined dirt paths. Beyond the bounds of where we were allowed was a dirt landscape with the occasional lone tree. Still, it represented what was out there-- something natural and untamed. In a place where we were told to be orderly, to conform to the rules of the institution and become part of their manicured landscape, we longed to be like the native trees beyond the bounds. Wilderness exists within us and is brought out when we recognize it around us. Wilderness grounds us and gives us the energy to keep strong and keep loving. That is why I'm asking Senators Sinema and Kelly to support the Biden's administration 30x30 conservation plan.
