In 1945 when the German people were picking up the pieces of their country, both literally and figuratively, I'm sure they asked themselves the question of how was this allowed to happen. We may be asking ourselves the same question four years from now. Unfortunately, the answer is simple. So many of us blindly allowed it to happen without a thought of the consequences.
