I can still remember Professor Don Carson with rolled up shirt sleeves, a big cup of coffee and his foot up on a chair talking to us in his classes. He was so likable and I stayed his friend for years. I bounced off many careers, including pro baseball, and you knew if you called him, he'd have time for you. In 2003, I won a first place for concert reviews in the state of Virginia Press Awards and called his home with the news and we laughed for 5 minutes at the mere 30 years it took for me to finally break the tape.

Thanks, Don. You were the greatest.
