Commission members must follow open meeting laws, the meetings must be public, the agendas and minutes are posted, and meetings are open to public input. A call for comment is a direct way. This is the way to accountability for all city boards and commissions. This helps to prevent abuse, which can have serious consequences even without a large sum of money involved.

My observation of boards and commissions in Tucson has shown me the majority of people on them take their responsibilities seriously. I have no doubt that educators, who in my experience have the highest concern for quality education, will be any different.
