Construction the memorial at the University of Arizona to honor the 1,177 sailors and marines on the USS Arizona who died during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on Dec. 7, 1941.

The new Medallion Plaza in the center of the USS Arizona Mall Memorial in Tucson, AZ. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. In addition to bearing the names of the dead, the plaza is surrounded by the outline of the deck of the ship that is nearly the exact dimensions of the west section on the Mall at University of Arizona campus.

Once permanently installed, the names of everyone killed on the USS Arizona will be put on display on the University of Arizona mall using bronze medallions in Tucson on Nov. 21, 2016. The USS Arizona Mall Memorial is dedicated to those who were killed on Dec. 7, 1941 during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
