Interstate 10's journey through Southern Arizona is plagued by dust storms, which can result in dramatic, tragic and fatal accidents particularly north of Picacho Peak.
A billowing cloud of dust kicked up by gusty winds envelopes a west bound truck as it sweeps over I-10 just north of the Sunshine Blvd interchange near Eloy, Ariz. in 2012. Traffic came to a halt several times on that stretch of the highway due to low visibility from the dust.

Arizona Department of Public Safety officers investigate a multiple fatality accident involving six semi tractor-trailers and 19 other vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 south of Casa Grande, Ariz., on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Authorities say three people are dead and at least 12 others injured after a dust storm led to chain-reaction collisions. (
