Coach of the Year, Part I: Pima College menβs basketball coachΒ Brian PeabodyΒ guided the Aztecs to a 19-11 regular season and a Tuesday night home berth, the No. 2 seed, in the ACCAC playoffs. Before Peabody took charge, the Aztecs went 1-21 in the ACCAC in 2012-13. Not only that, Pima leads the nation with 100.1 points per game. Peabody certainly didnβt do it alone; former Empire High School standoutΒ Deion JamesΒ was the ACCACβs co-Player of the Year, leading the league in scoring (20.5) and was second in rebounding (9.7).Β
