U of A Football

Director of on-campus recruiting and player personnel Matt Dudek takes a two-fisted approach as he sprays wide receiver Johnny Jackson with water guns in attempt to distract him from fielding a punt during Arizona's football practice at Ft. Huachuca, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2013, Ft. Huachuca, Ariz.

Rodriguez plans to fill Matt Dudek’s responsibilities internally and will use the money available from his departure to hire one or two new personnel analysts.

Dudek was Arizona’s general manager and director of player personnel. Chris Singletary, the UA’s director of recruiting, and Billy Kirelawich, its director of football operations, are expected to split those duties. Dudek left this week to join the staff at Michigan; he made $130,000 annually at Arizona.

As for the new hire or hires, Rodriguez said he will add “some experienced eyes, whether it’s NFL or college, helping from an analytical standpoint and a player-development standpoint.”

One person who fits those criteria is former UA All-American Chuck Cecil, who has extensive NFL playing and coaching experience. Cecil had been linked to a handful of UA openings in the last year.
