#RedforEd

Tucson High counselor Monicia Porter chants with the crowd during a #RedForEd rally in downtown Tucson earlier this month. The group says it will keep the pressure on state leaders to boost overall education funding.

Tucson educators plan to turn Broadway β€” from downtown to Houghton Road β€”into a river of red shirts on Wednesday, April 25.

They, along with members of the community, will don red shirts and hold signs to show support for the #RedforEd movement, which seeks to restore funding to Arizona's public education system.Β

Tucson schools and groups have signed up to cover different intersections along Broadway from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Anyone from the community is invited to participate. There will be food trucks and music along the way.Β

The protest comes after nearly 80 percent of Arizona educators voted to strike on Thursday if demands were not met.Β
