Air Force and South Alabama will square off in the second Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl.
Bowl officials announced the participants Sunday afternoon. The game is set for 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, at Arizona Stadium.
Air Force finished the regular season 9-3, 5-3 in the Mountain West Conference. Because of the presence of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, the Falconsβ participation in the Arizona Bowl is considered a huge win for the fledgling game.
βH-U-G-E,β Arizona Bowl executive director Mike Feder said.
South Alabama, representing the Sun Belt Conference, went 6-6 during the regular season. The Jaguars were just 2-6 in league play but defeated Mississippi State in Starkville and then-No. 19 San Diego State in non-conference matchups.
American Sports Network will televise the game live. In Tucson, the game will be carried by KWBA-TV, the local CW affiliate, on channel 8 on Cox and Comcast and channel 58 on DirectTV and DISH Network.
