The University of Arizona baseball team suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday night in San Diego, falling 1-0 to No. 4 Arkansas.
Randy Labaut (0-1) was the hard-luck loser for the Wildcats (3-1), allowing one run on three hits over seven innings. He struck out seven and didn't issue a walk.
The Arizona offense managed only two hits in the game, singles by Alfonso Rivas and Nick Quintana.
Heston Kjerstad supplied the game's only run when he homered for the Razorbacks (4-0) in the top of the fifth off Labaut.
Kacey Murphy (1-0) earned the win by tossing six shutout innings and allowing only one hit.
UA will play in the Tony Gwynn Classic in San Diego from Friday through Sunday. The Wildcats will take on San Diego State on Friday, Michigan on Saturday and San Diego on Sunday.
Arizona's next home game is at 6 p.m. Tuesday against New Mexico State.
