Saturday was an evening to honor one of the most historic figures in Arizona Wildcats baseball history in Hall of Fame head coach Jerry Kindall.
Kindall suffered a stroke and died on Dec. 24, 2017, leaving behind a legacy as one of the best to ever coach at Arizona. The UA on Saturday announced a new monument site at Jerry Kindall Field at Frank Sancet Stadium on the UA campus to honor the former baseball field and its namesake coaches. Then Kindall's family and former assistants gathered before the Wildcats took on No. 3 Stanford to recognize the Hall of Fame coach.
Kindall coached the Wildcats from 1972 to 1996 and led them to three national championships in 1976, 1980 and 1986 with an 860-579-7 record.
Kindall's grandson, Eric, threw out the opening pitch, and Kindall's brother, Wayne, sang the national anthem. Check out the Kindall ceremony here.
