While remaining a unanimous pick atop the Associated Press Top 25 poll Monday for the second straight week, the Arizona Wildcats have also taken over the top spot in Kenpom rankings.
The Wildcats, 20-0 heading into a Big Monday matchup at No. 13 BYU, hadn't previously been atop Kenpom rankings all season. While the AP poll is reflective of a team's resume to date, Kenpom's analytic-based rankings are predictive for future games.
Arizona ranks fourth in Kenpom offensive efficiency and third in defensive efficiency. The Wildcats rank fifth in two-point percentage defense (43.7) and offensive rebounding percentage (40.0).
In the AP poll, seven Top 10 teams moved up one spot while Iowa State (16-2) fell from No. 2 to No. 9 after losing twice last week.
UConn (18-1) moved to No. 2, while Michigan (16-1) is No. 2, Purdue (17-1) is No. 3, Duke (17-1) is No. 5, Houston (17-1) is No. 6, Nebraska (18-0) is seventh, and Gonzaga (19-1) is eighth.
BYU (17-2) remained in the No. 13 spot but the Cougars could undoubtedly move well into the Top 10 with a win over Arizona -- while potentially sending the Wildcats into a pack. BYU and Arizona will tip at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
FWIW, here's my AP ballot this week.
