Look out NBA, there's another Markkanen in the world. Budding Chicago Bulls star and former Arizona standout Lauri Markkanen welcomed his first child this week.
Chicago's WGN9 reported the news Friday, after Markkanen posted a photo to Instagram Friday morning with his newborn son.
Markkanen missed Wednesday's road game against the Trailblazers, and is expected to be out Saturday against the Clippers. The NBA rookie had been away from the team this week with what they were calling a "personal matter," according to WGN9.
The former Wildcat is averaging 15.3 points per game to go along with 7.7 rebounds. Markkanen last week was named to the NBA Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star weekend, where he'll join the likes of Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Dillon Brooks on the World Team.
