Draft Combine Basketball

Kadeem Allen put up stronger numbers — 11 points, four rebounds and six assists — at the NBA Combine on Friday.

Arizona landed a second player in the NBA Draft, and it was a surprise: Kadeem Allen was taken No. 53 by the Boston Celtics after a strong predraft showing.

Allen played well in the seniors-only Portsmouth Invitational, and was invited to the Chicago NBA Combine as a result. He then worked out for 15 NBA teams while trying to show off his defensive potential.

UA's Lauri Markkanen was drafted high as expected, going to Chicago as the No. 7 pick, but it was freshman Kobi Simmons who was expected to be a late second-round pick or to go undrafted.
