Former Arizona guard Allonzo Trier will have a pre-NBA draft workout with the 17-time world champion Boston Celtics on Friday.
Trier confirmed his workout with the Star on Thursday.Β
Trier worked out for the New York Knicks on Wednesday and will now turn his focus to the Celtics, a team that finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, eventually losing to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the conference finals.
The upcoming workout with Boston will be Trier's sixth. He's worked out for the Lakers, Suns, Timberwolves, Kings and Knicks.
Boston's only pick in the draft is No. 27 overall in the first round, and Trier is projected to land in the middle to late part of the second round. It's possible the Celtics acquire a second-round pick via trade, or they could evaluate Trier as a potential undrafted free agent.
In 2017, Boston selected UA point guard Kadeem Allen, who made a splash with the Celtics' G-League Maine Red Claws this season.Β
While Deandre Ayton is focusing on the Suns, Rawle Alkins found a new team to work out for since his session with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. Alkins worked out for the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
Like Trier, Alkins is projected to land somewhere in the second round. The Jazz have the No. 52 overall pick.
One mock draftΒ predicts the Oklahoma City Thunder will take both Alkins and Trier in the second round.Β
