Since he finally scooted over to Steve Fisher’s chair at San Diego State last April, Brian Dutcher has made it clear he doesn’t want things to change (except the win-loss record, of course).

One of those things that remains, the new Aztec boss hopes, will be the Arizona-SDSU series.

The Wildcats and Aztecs met 11 times over 13 seasons between 2002-03 and 2013-14 seasons, all involving Fisher’s clubs, while the last six came since Sean Miller has been coaching Arizona. But the teams haven’t met since 2014-15, a two-point UA win in the Maui Invitational.

β€œWe are trying to renew the series,” Dutcher told the Star, probably in 2019-20.

No agreement has been reached yet, and UA is mostly focused on the 2018-19 schedule now, but 2019-20 appears a good possibility. Miller prefers to play at least one strong Mountain West Conference team every season, and San Diego is not only an easy trip but also popular with UA fans in Tucson and Southern California alike.

The teams are unlikely to schedule each other in 2018-19 because they may meet anyway again in the 2018 Maui Invitational, while UA already has UNLV and New Mexico on this season’s schedule.

Miller’s Wildcats have won the past four games in the series after losing the first two during Miller’s two toughest seasons at Arizona: His first season of 2009-10 and the post-Derrick Williams season of 2011-12.

Josh Green, a UA recruiting target in the class of 2019, says he'll transfer from Phoenix Hillcrest Prep to IMG Academy. The Australia native played with DeAndre Ayton last season at Hillcrest.

Former UA recruiting target Cam Reddish says he's headed to Duke. HeΒ had the Wildcats in his top seven.

Plenty of debate over whether LaMelo Ball will ever play for UCLA now that he has his own shoe. But (surprise) LaVar says he doesn't care.

Lauri Markannen helped Finland get off to a good start in EuroBasket competition, with 22 points and seven rebounds against France.
